I’m Liu
Yuan. You can call me Echo. Fortunately, after my 17thbirthday, I was elected through No.2 high school of
shijiazhuang as a sm2 scholar to have the gold opportunity to study in NIE and NTU. I’m
an adaptive person and the situation here in Singapore is similar to my
hometown – Shijiazhuang. Though nearly one year has
already passed, it still seems to me that I have arrived here for a short time. In order to accommodate to new environment,
I try to learn various kinds of social communication skills, get to know peers around me and make friends with natives
by taking part in activities to color my life.
What I have learned
I have learned a lot from the study
in NIE now. For instance, I learned the skills of skimming main ideas and extending vocabulary
on academic reading study. I also know more about writing structures, how to write argumentative essays and have a further knowledge about academic
writing. I learned how to communicate with others properly and with my partner, we conducted a questionnaire, did a survey, wrote a research paper as well as
gave a presentation. Additionally, my listening ability really improved a lot because I was in
an English atmosphere.
